I've travelled to over 16 countries and so many cities I’ve lost count. Ive been obsessed with travel since a good girlfriend of mine decided to up and leave at the age of 18 and move to London. Coming where im from, and back in the 90’s achievements like that just seemed untainable. And it made me want it even more. The problem with travel is that once you start, you just cannot stop. The world can always be your oyster with many more corners to explore. I still have many destinations on my hit list but here are a list of my top pics still to get off my bucket list.
THE HOME OF THE BRAVE
Ive been obsessed with the Americas since I was a pre teen. I saturated myself in American pop culture and built a world around the sweet valley twins, new kids on the block and burger king junior whoppers. America has hugely influenced my life and top of the list is New York. I have a feeling once I get there, I won't want to leave. Aside from new York though Contiki run my dream tour “The Grand Southern” travelling from LA to New York via the southern highways through dallas, Memphis, little rock, missisipi, new Orleans, Miami and Vegas in 26 days.
Hell yes give me a piece of that action please.
PICCACHOOOOOO
A close 2nd to north America is their much sexier older sister South America in particular the Inca trail. Located a short distance from Cuzco the inca trail begins a 3 day treck to macchu pichu ancient home to “the lost city of the incas”.
It sits 2450metres above sea level and is not a destination for the faint hearted or the unfit however the feeling any human must get on reaching this destination would be nothing short of magical. You are literally in a whole other world.
AFRIKA BAMABATA
To get completely back to nature Africa, in particular the gorilla trek to Rwanda, is a biggie for me. The trail from Rwanda through to Zanzibar crossing the Ngorongoro Crater and starting in Nairobi covers everything you need to see in about 2 weeks.
Thats pretty good coverage for a continent so humongazoid. Gorillas (for a permit of $500USD), gameparks and beaches………oh I wish to hear the lions roar while sleeping in a treetop tent one day.
PLAY ON PLAYA
Mehikooo or in short MEXICO! In particular Playa del Carmen on the south coast of cancun of the carribean shores.
My soul purpose of going? To drink pure 100% tequila shots, listen to unique Spanish music, wear some sombreros with mi amigos and to be really cool by updating my facebook status “playas play on in playa del carmen ;)". Seriously, thats got to be the coolest name for a city in the world.
BRING YOUR SEXY BACK
There is something oozingly sensual that comes from everything brazil. The music, the beaches, the food, carnivale..... even rio underwears!
The city of rio de janeiro or some may say, city of god, is a place I could see myself sitting in for many weeks on end luxuriating in all things BRASIL!
Give me the key to the city of god!
THE BIG CHILL
At the end of the world, literally, and a final destination for those who have travelled to all corners of the world is Antarctica. The Antarctic mission can only be described as life changing. It is a mission for those searching for something compleltey unattainable by basic travel, in other words, you need major cash to get here. Launching out from Ushaia in Argentina the voyages are few and far between and for all those nationally geographically minded.
So if you could go anywhere in the world, where would you let your dreams take you?
