Inspirations - eat, pray, love

“There is so much about my fate that I cannot control, but other things do fall under the jurisdiction. I can decide how I spend my time, whom I interact with, whom I share my body and life and money and energy with. I can select what I can read and eat and study. I can choose how I'm going to regard unfortunate circumstances in my life-whether I will see them as curses or opportunities. I can choose my words and the tone of voice in which I speak to others. And most of all, I can choose my thoughts.”
― Elizabeth Gilbert

There have been many books and films that inspired me over the years to keep traveling, keep learning, keep experiencing. I still imagine myself in my older age packing up, selling everything and risking it all for adventure. Elizabethb Gilbert proves your never too old to take a risk

Travel diary from the vault - Thailand - Entry four

Sometime mid august 2007

My special place exists in the gulf of Thailand. Amazing Thailand.  We live by the heat of the sun and the rising of the moon.  We know no time just day, night, full and half moon.  We don't get no sleep but we have no need for it.
Our deep green ocean gives energy to get us through night and day.  The tide rolls in and out and crabs and dogs dig holes.  Funky house wafts all over this beach and we sip coconut juice.

Travel diary from the vault - Thailand - entry three

Some day in late July 2007

Im still not sure what day or time it is yet but I know I've been here a while now.  Long enough to feel a part of the Tong Nai Pan community. And it's an interesting little community. So who are the people in my neighbourhood?

Travel diary from the vault - Thailand - entry two

Koh Phangnan 3rd July 2007

I've decided to stay on here at Koh Phangnan for the rest of the month.  I'm starting to get to know the locals and it would be stupid to leave.  What for? Move on and do the same sh*t everybody else does which is just a ploy to make you spend more money without actually stopping to get to know the people.  This is the real experience, stay for a while longer.

Travel diary from the vault - Thailand - entry one

I was cleaning out my closet, literally, and I found my travel diary "Watch me write" from when I travelled through Thailand.  "Through" is probably the wrong word to use however.  I would use the term "parked up" as more descriptive of my time in Thailand.  How nostalgic, how reminiscent, how wish-I-could-do-it-all-again.  Below I share :)

Bangkok 2th June 2007

The Thai people are such lovely people.  They have so little yet give so much and graciously with a big smile.  How are some humans born like this and others from the west so different?  Same, same but different?  They laugh, joke with you and always want to help, we could learn a lot.

Through the eyes - Manaia

I love walking, I could do it for hours if I have enough music or a partner who won't complain.  One of the best walks near Whangarei is Mount Manaia, just 5 million stairs of gruelling to the top of the world.
